Quotes to remember: And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

Every time you listen to a political program you hear names being tossed around as a potential presidential candidate and why. You sit back and think, we just voted in a President, why are we discussing this now. I know it seems to early to think about the 2016 Presidential election. So I did some research on why it is not. It doesn’t matter if you are a first time voter or a seasoned voter, I found some of this information helpful in understanding why consideration of the next candidate starts immediately after an election.

The Mechanics of Presidential Candidacies:
  • The Pregame Warm Up
  • Informal Feelers, leaks and exploratory committees
  • Announcement of Candidacy
  • Primaries and Caucuses

  1. Have to think the media is doing this because they want to forget about 2012 - the media is no fan of this President (only pretended to like him around 2008 when it was evident that he was going to win - then piled right back on him).

After 2004 they hailed W. as this President with a mandate - and they didn't say much about 2008 until the time came. Now they're acting like 2012 didn't happen... they just want to move on to 2016.

In addition to the obstacles mentioned here, the other big obstacle Democrats face is the media.
