But, I thought I might switch it up a bit for today.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking a recruitment firm to assist with its nationwide search for a new executive director. The executive director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the district. The executive director reports to the district’s seven-member elected Board of Commissioners and develops the strategic direction of the organization, which has a professional staff of nearly 350. Any firm that wishes to be considered should submit to the district’s Office of Human Resources a proposal that includes a company profile, details on experience with similar searches and a proposed timeline. The Office of Human Resources will consider the quality of each proposal and the appropriateness and background of assigned personnel when making its selection. Food Network star Robert Irvine (“Restaurant: Impossible”) has cooked up an unusual live show he’s bringing to the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet at 8 p.m. April 20. “Robert Irvine Live,” Irvine’s first theatrical tour, incorporates challenges, audience interaction and video projection.“This is not just me cooking on stage for two hours because that has been done before,” Irvine said in an email. “I wanted to do something totally different that makes cooking a vehicle for being able to create a theatrical event.” Preview performances found Irvine rappelling down balconies and being challenged to feed members of the audience with no knowledge of the ingredients while a timer counted down. The show will be different at each location, and Irvine said he has chosen to remain in the dark about what challenges will be thrown at him each night. “We basically have constructed a set list of cooking challenges, much like a rock band would put together a list of songs for the evening. The big difference is our ‘lead singer’ has no idea what that list will entail,” producer Joshua Lingenfelter said. “My job is to try every way I can to trip Robert up.” The show also features a host described as a “live and interactive computer-generated character” that can talk to Irvine and react to what he and the audience are doing. Tickets are on sale for $29 to $153 a person (additional fees may apply). The $153 tickets include a VIP cooking seminar with Irvine. Tickets can be purchased at the Rialto box office, 102 N. Help Northern Illinois Food Bank Feed Hungry Kids Through BackPack Program

We need your help. Northern Illinois Food Bank has applied for a $45,000 grant to feed hungry kids through our BackPack Program. For the one in five children facing hunger, the weekends are a challenge. This program provides hungry children with a backpack full of nutritious food for the child and two family members for the weekend, when the children do not have access to school breakfasts and lunches, and are at risk of hunger. Without this program, many children would go hungry. The grants will be awarded to the organizations with the most public votes through an online Facebook campaign.
