MY BELIEF
WHY OBAMACARE IS AS IMPORTANT AS SUNSHINE
SANDY'S
LIGHTHOUSE EDITION
As you know January 1st is the official
start of The Affordable Care Act - more widely "known" as Obamacare. This Act
has stirred up unbelievable controversy. I hear statements that it's a death
panel that would decide whether or not the seriously ill elderly would be
allowed to live. Some feel it is unconstitutional. Some feel it will do
irreparable harm to our state. When this Act was challenged in the U.S. Supreme
Court-the Justices did not agree. And, I am so very grateful for that decision.
I believe Obamacare is as important as Sunshine.
As we move into 2014, more and more
citizens will learn of the benefits of Obamacare as these benefits increase. In
the coming months there is going to be a heavily stated effort in Congress to
defund Obamacare. I feel it will be impossible to do because this level of
ignorance is gradually decreasing.
As a single parent - also disabled, I am
very grateful that healthcare reform is in place. I understand the fears of now
being required to carry your own healthcare. Wondering "how am I going to pay
for this"? There are programs in place to help if qualified. I really think this
is long over due. When you look at the big picture - your future is more secure.
We have better security to get the healthcare we need; We can sleep at night
knowing our children will have access to the healthcare they require and get the
education to be our future; That men, women and children will receive or
continue the treatments needed with a pre-existing condition. Today, some are
not suffering or have not died because of Obamacare! This program will allow us
to thrive and grow in so many ways.
I can safely say this act has forced us to
look at our futures and consider the issue of future healthcare reform, not just
on the state level but on the national level as well. I believe for generations to
come - Americans will understand how we gain strength in
change.
We need SUNSHINE to thrive –
we need OBAMACARE to thrive.
