THIS CAN NOT BE OUR NORM...

I want to express my condolences and send my thoughts to the victims and the families of the bombing at the Boston Marathon yesterday. Just as they reached the finish line, PRIDE, JOY and a SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT were taken away in a split second by a vicious attack. 3 Innocent lives taken. One of these was an 8 year old child. At the time of this writing, 149 victims, 8 children - one as young as 2 years old, are affected by life changing injuries. Thank you to the First Responders as well as the Marathon participants who stepped up to help the injured.

It makes me so Proud to be an American...we can be so divided on so many issues, but we come together when it is time of disaster. It does not matter if we are a Democrat or a Republican, we stand proudly side by side, together as one. Why does it take a disaster for this to happen? Everyone helping another with nothing else that matters but taking care of each other.

Then when everything is said and done, why can’t we stay standing proud side by side, and continue to care for each other?

The following poem written by Nancy Ellen Crossland, I believe expresses what we all feel.

UNSUNG HEROES

The gentle woman,
The quiet man
Live their lives
The best they can,

No awards or honors
Do they own;
No marching bands
To welcome them home,

Rise before dawn
Or work through the night,
Provide for their loved ones
Do what is right
Honest, devoted;
They live a simple life,

Grateful for their possessions
And to worship as they please;
Enjoy a walk in the park
Refreshed by a cool breeze,
Lend a helping hand
Know when to leave,

They are just everyday people,
More valuable than they know
The gentle woman,
The quiet man
Living their lives
The best they can.
